Kathryn Johanna Kuhlman was a charismatic healing evangelist. Her ministry spanned several decades from the 1940s-1970s.
Born near Concordia, Missouri, to German-American parents. After a spiritual experience at age 14, several years later, she began itinerant preaching, with her elder sister and brother-in law, in Idaho. Later, she was ordained by the Evangelical Church Alliance.
Kuhlman was a modern-day prophet exercising the power of God. Her ministry influenced faith healers Benny Hinn and Billy Burke. Hinn has adopted some of her techniques and wrote a book about Kuhlman, though it is a fact that at no point did he meet her personally, nor speak to her. However, Billy Burke did meet her and was counseled by her, having claimed a miracle healing in her service as a young boy.
